MIDNIGHT SUN began as an off-shoot of MAROON SOCIETY, a group of African-American, Latin and Rock musicians in Cotati CA in the early '80s. MAROON SOCIETY derived their name from the escaped slaves that roamed the South East US and ranged from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Haiti, South and Central America. With as many as 12 members at any given time, MAROON SOCIETY was quite a spectacle. ("debacle!" - Ed.)

André Russell and Milo Karobi formend MIDNIGHT SUN while the rest of MAROON SOCIETY pursued other projects. Since forming in 1984, MIDNIGHT SUN has shared the stage with some of the great musicians of our time: Pato Banton, Sly Stone, The Neville Bros., Jorge Santana, Jimmy Cliff, Eek-a-Mouse, Don Carlos, The Twinkle Bros. and Junior Toots.
